The Big Bike Ride: Reflection

I am departing sometime after work today, and I thought it might be useful to reflect on how I got to this point a mere 6 hours from departure, on what will be a ride I won't soon forget.

For many years (15) we have travelled to Kelowna, BC visiting family, periodically we would pass a solitary cyclist either on the prairies, or in the mountains, working his/her way up the middle of a big climb. I have always been drawn to both the physical & mental "struggle" that these individuals chose to take on. I can't explain it other than saying "I want to do that too!".

In a less than conventional manner, I will choose to pedal East-West, into the prairie wind, and up and through the Rocky Mountains. I do not bring a lot of cycling experience to the table, however I like to think that I'm the type that can persevere through adversity, which there will be ample of. It promises to be quite the adventure.

  1. May all of your life cycles pass interesting landscapes. It is many years since I visited Kelowna and then always on four wheels.

    Good luck!

I look forward to posts of your adventure.
